OTTAWA--This morning the Federation issued a statement, raising concern over the government's decision to cut a number of critical student-focused surveys, including Statistics Canada's Youth in Transition study. The statement erroneously reported that the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) would be wound down. In fact, PISA is one of the few student-focused surveys that has secured multi-year funding, and will continue to be funded until at least 2012.
The Canadian Federation of Students is Canada's largest student organisation, uniting more that one-half million students in all ten provinces. The Canadian Federation of Students and its predecessor organisations have represented students in Canada since 1927.
