Prairies RISE Summit: Healing and Empowerment

The Canadian Federation of Students – Manitoba and the Canadian Federation of Students – Saskatchewan are hosting the Prairies Racialized and Indigenous Student Experience (RISE) Summit from March 17 to 19, 2017, in Winnipeg. Students will have an opportunity to take part in workshops, listen to speakers, share their experiences and plan actions for a common vision to combat racism and colonialism within our post-secondary institutions and communities. The theme of the RISE Summit is healing and empowerment. Students who are interested and who identify as racialized or Indigenous can register for free here. Food and childcare will be provided throughout the summit. Transportation and accommodation will be provided for Brandon University and University of Saskatchewan students.

In addition to open organizing spaces and workshops, the weekend will include the following panels:

  • Anti-oppression
  • Race power relations
  • Displacement, dispossession, special confinement
  • Decolonial love

Registration for University of Saskatchewan students closed March 1 and all other students can register until March 10.
