#BlackOnCampus: Nafisa Absher
University of Saskatchewan
Listening to several students speaking of their struggles on campus, I’m reminded that systematic racism is deeply entrenched within our culture. As our university remains predominantly white, being a black student leader on campus means that I’m constantly advocating to create more opportunities to have the voices of those marginalized in our community heard. It means playing an active role in building a culture of inclusivity and a sense of connection for everyone on campus.
Nafisa Absher is a Master of Public Health Candidate at the University of Saskatchewan. She currently serves as the Graduate Students’ Association as the Vice-President Operations and Communications.
